Cinque Terre, Italy

Manarola, Riomaggiore, Monterroso and Vernazza were four of the five Cinque Terre villages we were able to visit by train. Due to the high waves and impending storm we were not able to make the boat ride to Cornelia but if it is anything like the other villages it is undoubtedly lovely.

Each with its own unique character, colourful buildings, craftsmen and artists in the streets, situated on the coast and nestled into the rocky escarpment this UNESCO World site serves as a refreshing break from the hustle, bustle and commercialism of the larger cities.
Had we more time and better weather spending a few days in Cinque Terre and walking the scenic path between the villages would definitely have been on our "to do" list.
